(Jeddah-AlummahWorld, 04 Rabi ath-Thani 1436, 24 Jan 2015) The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Iyad Ameen Madani, expressed deep sorrow and sincere condolences to the Royal Family and to the leadership, government and people of Saudi Arabia upon the demise of the late Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, may Allah have mercy on him.

Madani added that though King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz has passed away, his auspicious works will keep his memory alive and vibrant in all hearts, and his achievements will remain in the immortals’ record. His compatriots shall always remember his venerable deeds for his country in the form of mega projects that paved the way for a solid development structure that combined building a nation and citizens’ welfare.

The Muslim World and Muslims all over the world shall remember him for his historic expansions of the Two Holy Mosques, and his directives towards great Islamic projects in Makkah and Medina and the holy sites that have clearly contributed to facilitate the performance of Hajj and Umrah.

His relentless quest for rapprochement of various Islamic schools of thought and the establishment of a center in Medina affirm his commitment to the unity of the Ummah.

His expeditious efforts to assist the needy and those affected and afflicted in the Ummah are innumerable.

The central issue of Al-Quds Ash-Sharif remained vibrant in his heart throughout his life – May Allah have mercy on him. He spared no effort to provide support and help in this regard.

The whole world will remember him for his great role towards achieving peace through various roles and forums. His continuous call for interreligious and intercultural dialogue and the establishment of an international center for this noble purpose in Vienna shall remain a practical proof on his candid approach.

We offer our deep condolences to the Ummah as a whole.

We also pray to Allah to help and guide the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, and his sincere Crown Prince, Muqrin bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, and to protect the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from all evils.

To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.
