(Riyadh-AlummahWorld, 25 Rabi ath-Thani 1436, 14 Feb 2015) Due to the deteriorating security and political situation in the Yemeni capital, Saudi Arabia and UAE has suspended all embassy operations in Sanaa. Houthi militia grab power in Sanaa where situation is tense between locals and armed militia.

Riyadh has suspended all work at its embassy in Yemen and evacuated its staff "due to the deterioration of the security and political situation", state news agency SPA reported, citing an official at the foreign ministry.

On the other hand, UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday announced that it has suspended operations at its embassy in the Yemeni capital Sana’a and evacuated all diplomatic staff.

In a statement the ministry said it took this decision due to the increasing deterioration of the political and security situation Yemen is witnessing and the tragic events after the Houthis undermined the legitimate authority and the political transition based on the GCC Initiative and results of the UN Security Council-backed national dialogue.

The Houthis have sidelined the central government in Yemen, which borders top oil exporter and regional heavyweight Saudi Arabia.

Riyadh along with other members of the Gulf Cooperation Council have accused the Houthi rebels of staging a coup in Yemen after they announced they were dissolving parliament and forming a new government last week.

Yemen has been in political limbo since the president and prime minister resigned last month after the Houthis seized the presidential palace.

Foreign ministers of the  Gulf Cooperation Council are to meet later on Saturday in the Saudi capital Riyadh for expected talks on the Yemen crisis. "Yemeni situation causing deep concern among GCC countries who may take a unified and decisive action soon", analysts said.
