(New York-AlummahWorld, 15 Jumada ath Thaniyah 1436, 04 April 2015) UN Security Council will meet on Saturday to discuss a Russian proposal for humanitarian pauses in the Saudi-led air campaign in Yemen.

So far, the Security Council failed to put pressure on Iran and opposition forces of Yemen to stop armed threats against a legitimate government of Yemeni president Hadi Al Mansour.

Russia called for the emergency meeting amid growing alarm over the rising civilian death toll. Violence has sharply escalated since the Saudi-led air campaign started, and according to aid agencies reports, more than 500 people had been killed in two weeks, including dozens of children.

UN officials have been quoted as saying the country is "on the verge of total collapse." The UN is backing President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi as Yemen's legitimate leader. He fled the country last month when the Houthi rebels advanced on Aden.
