According to presidential office statement, speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey İsmet Yılmaz, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and many ministers were also present at the anti-terror rally. “I commemorate our martyrs, who have fallen for our freedom and future, with grace and gratitude,” said President Erdogan thanking relatives of martyrs, veterans, our security forces and state officials.

“May our unity and solidarity prevail forever!” said President Erdoğan and he added: “You are giving the best answer to those, who want to divide our eternal homeland, our last state, our thousand-year-old brotherhood by using ethnic and sectarian dissension and deviant trends.”

Reciting Yahya Kemal’s poem, titled “26 Agustos 1922”, President Erdoğan said: “So long as your determination, resolution and sincerity continue, nobody can stop this nation’s thousand-year-old march.”

Pointing out that today this nation was struggling against the same adversary it struggled against a-thousand-years ago, President Erdogan said: “The time has changed. Names have changed. Methods have changed, but the goal has remained the same. Their goal is to disrupt our unity, solidarity and brotherhood, to foil our struggle on this sacred path.” Noting that they had failed so far, President Erdogan said: “Just when they thought they defeated, destroyed us, we rose from our ashes, planting that sacred flag, we are entrusted with, at the peak.”

Underscoring that there was not any ethnic problem in Turkey, only a terror problem and that they were struggling against the terrorist organization and its supporters; President Erdoğan stated that they had achieved great progress since 2005 and said: “We have come to a point where we can say ‘Turkey does not have a Kurdish problem; it has a terror problem.”

Expressing that we must strongly hold on to our homeland and consolidate our unity, solidarity and brotherhood, President Erdogan said: “We will re-solidify the bonds that keep us standing. We will love each other not for our interests or benefits, but for Allah. We will re-clarify the blurred minds. We will strengthen the hesitating hearts, because this is the path our faith, history and culture lead us to. We will not allow those, who want to cause strife among brothers.”
