Saudi Crown Prince meets President Erdogan, stressed consolidation of strategic cooperation

(Ankara-AlummahWorld, Dhu-AlHijjah 30, 1437 AH, 01 October 2016) PresidentTurkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan decorated Crown Prince, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who is paying an official visit to Turkey, with the Order of the Republic. The ceremony for the presentation of the Order was held at the Presidential Complex following the tete-a-tete meeting of President Erdogan and Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Nayef.


Also present at the ceremony were Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) Ismail Kahraman, Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım, Chief of General Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar, President of the Constitutional Court Zuhtu Arslan, Deputy Prime Ministers Numan Kurtulmuş and Veysi Kaynak, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlut Cavuşoglu, Minister of Economy Nihat Zeybekci, Minister of Interior Suleyman Soylu, Minister of Culture and Tourism Nabi Avcı and Minister of Finance Naci Agbal.

Delivering a speech at the ceremony, President Erdogan said that the Order of the Republic was a symbol awarded especially to foreign statesmen, improving the friendly relations between Turkey and the country of the awardee and helping the peoples of the two countries get closer.

Stressing that Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Nayef has always made great contributions to the improvement of friendly relations between Turkey and Saudi Arabia, President Erdogan pointed out that deep-rooted ties of friendship and brotherhood between the two countries have further been consolidated. Addressing the Crown Prince, President Erdogan said: “At a tough time when divisions, conflicts and terror were prevailing over our region, you helped the maintenance of peace and stability through your efforts.”

Emphasizing that Turkey-Saudi Arabia relations were living their most exceptional days of the history thanks to the joint efforts and mutual steps, the President expressed: “Cooperation between the two countries, improving in every sphere and gaining new dimensions, provides opportunities for the regional and global stability, as well. This visit, which you are paying to our country together with a large delegation at a time when our country is going through a critical process, is a highly significant message for the future of our relations. I thank you once again for the solidarity you displayed with our nation and country following the bloody July 15 coup attempt. I feel a great pleasure to present you with this Order, which will be a symbol for our historical ties of brotherhood under the leadership of the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques and your Highness.”

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Nayef, for his part, expressed that he was paying this visit to Turkey upon the request of the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in order to convey his sincere regards and further deepen the long-standing ties between the two brotherly nations.

The Crown Prince underlined that King Salman bin Abdulaziz attached importance to this visit for the further consolidation of strategic cooperation between the two countries in various fields including security, politics and culture. Thanking for the Order he was presented with, Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Nayef noted that Turkey and Saudi Arabia think alike on regional issues. Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Nayef also expressed the happiness they felt since Turkey achieved to thwart the coup attempt, stressing that Saudi Arabia gives utmost importance to Turkey’s security and stability.
