(Jeddah-AlummahWorld-Shawwal01,1438H) Most of Muslim countries including Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Turkey, Malaysia and Indonesia celebrated the Eid al-Fitr feast on Sunday to mark the end of the holy fasting month of Ramadan.

In some other countries like Pakistan, India and Bangladesh, Eid al Fitr will be on Monday, June 26.

Muslims in non-Muslim majority countries such as Britain, USA, France, Canada, Japan, S. Korea and others also celebrated Eid Al Fitr on Sunday.

The timing of Eid can vary in different countries depending on the sighting of the new moon, which marks the start of the month in Islam's lunar calendar.

During Ramadan, observant Muslims do not drink, eat or have sexual relations between dawn and nightfall. They also try to avoid evil thoughts and deeds.

Ramadan is sacred to Muslims also as the month the holy book of Quran was revealed to Prophet Mohammad peace be upon him.
